I have both a N73 and K800i, and trying to be as impartial as possible, I'm going against the majority opinion so far, and say the K800 is the better bet, here's why;
Personally I think the K800 looks better, and is more tactile and generally feels better built. (not that the N73 is bad, but the lens slide cover on the N73 is a little shakey after about 2 weeks use, K800 is still tight as new)
The photo quality on the K800 is better. Period, no matter what anyone says the K800 is better, an opinion shared by my friend who is a professional sports photographer. Also the K800 has a true flash, and it works, unlike the 'light' on the N73.
The N73 has an upperhand if you say Symbian, BUT it has pros and cons.
Pro's : if you want lots of programs , then symbian has this advantage, BUT it is Symbian v3, which has a tiny catalouge, and is not generally backwards compatible with older Symbian software.
Very adaptable.
Con's : Symbian v3 is slow, especially compared to the K800, and I get driven up the wall with the lag on the menus. This also get worse the more media you put on it. Fill it with video and pics and songs, and it gets r e a llllllllllyyyyyy S.........L...........O.............W.
I would argue that the vast majority of people never use the full potential of the symbian system, so in reality it's not a huge advantage.
My opinion : get the K800.

Would have to agree with this 100%, just like to add the K800i has to be the best phone I have ever had, however it does miss that certain something Nokia phones tend to have. I would say it’s much like a Volkswagen Golf, does everything well, is reliable but overall a tad boring and without character.

You conveniently forgot to mention the advantages N73 have over K800
1. much better video rec
2. screen size that is 40% bigger
3. stereo speakers,
4. much better OS in symbian with support for many applications that K800 can only dream to have
5. better quality games
6. office/pdf document support
7. much better web browser
8. bigger capacity and 50% cheaper memory card
9. true multi-tasking
10. much better blog system
11. EDGE/PTT/GPS (for those who needs it)
N73 is a tad slower in menu speed but it is NOT that slow. And if you load up K800 gallery with photos and videos, it also C R A W L. And many reviewer said the N73 photo is better in terms of color vividness and clarity.

The advantages mentioned of K800 are really really weak. The thing is that N73 is the better phone, say what you might, it still wont change the fact. N73 is a high-end phone where as K800 is a mid-range phone. N73 has a bigger, better screen which is a vital part of the phone.
As for the sluggish symbian, dont just say something if u havnt used it. My N71 with the same sybmian is really really fast with a bucket load of stuff installed in it.

I recommend K800/790. A Real Phone! What a voice and receiption. A good camera. Nice compact solid. Lovely rubber keyboard. N73's keyboard is hard!

Well as I said, I sold my N93 because the images were so poor amongst other things, this K800 is FANTASTIC for images, even if some other things like browsing can be worse - for me however I don't care I want a v good camera, and phone calls and texts. Ask yourself if you want to take good pohotos and go for the match.
Oh the screen resolution is actually the same, the N73 just has bigger pixels.
Why don't you go to a phone shop and look at both? I regretted not trying the N93 out for 20 miinutes first!!
(PS I tried taking photos inside in pitch black last night, they came out perfectly as well)
