this is my first and only SE phone, all my friends use nokia's =/ so i dont really have a way of testing the charger - do you think if i took my w810i in to a phone shop, told them i thought my charger was broke and asked if they had one in store that i could quickly plug my phone in to, to see if it was the charger that was broke and not the phone, they would let me?

I'd go down the charger route as well. A friend had difficulty charging his W800 for example, tried everything and eventually went and bought a new charger off eBay - fixed it. Just by viewing it though you wouldn't think that there was a problem with it.

My brothers D750i came back in the post this morning and i have tried to charge that with my charger but that also wont charge so i guess i've got a problem with the charger and not the phone - does anyone know what the name of the charger type that is used with the w810i and where is the best/cheapest place to get hold of one or would i be best going in to town and getting one from a shop?

hi, i had the same problem with my w810i, it wouldnt charge when i plugged the charger in. what i did was get a pair of scissors and with the point of one half, just scraped the connectors on the charger and phone very lightly and its charged perfect ever since. just dont do it too hard.
