@ rrojas.. With the current situation in Venezuala your a very brave man for telling the truth of events there..as it sounds like soon the govt. there may decide to do away with all opposition..ie they start sending execution squads out to silence them. @ the rest .. It appears youve missed the main point of rrojas post.. That Venezuala is in the Iron Grip of a Dictator..(even though the dictator opposes Bush ) that life in venezuala is very dangerous for the Venezualan people under the current Govt.

your president is an ass but it CAN get a lot worse, trust me I know from personal experience,

as for bush the recent act just goes to show how childish, stupid and immature he is, how the U.N. is a joke, and how most of the current governments, leaders are corrupt, if he has a problem with your president he shouldn't take it out on the millions of people there, even strategically it would be better for him to act like a 'good guy' and win your people over but he's too dumb to realize that.

@SsTiTcH

I decided to make this thread while i was on US, I was amazed that people didnt know about the situation in Vzla, even member of my family living there didnt know anything.

I think that

1) People dont care (Why should they?)
or
2) News from venezuela are somehow filtered.

dude people do know (outside the U.S. that is )

U.S. news is filtered they only get what they're news stations want them to get, unless they have a satellite reciever and bother to check out other global news channels.

@ rrojas .. Can understand posting from abroad .. True to answer your question/reason. Most ppl have (and will) spent their lives living safely in suburbia with no idea of true hardship or fear to them its an abstract thought seen briefly and watered down on the nightly news, they never had property seized, travel restrictions..the fear of someone coming to drag you from your home and torture then kill you all because of speaking out against tyranny..and as result they become complacent and dont care as

they think oh thats terrible but it wont happen here so its not our problem. And go on living thier sheltered lives. And yes the media is filtered to keep the truth from getting out.

Well, tomorrow are the presidential elections. Polls show that the 2 strongest candidates are actual president Hugo Chavez with 52% of support and the Zulia gobernor Manuel Rosales with 48% of support.

Lets hope that elections will go without problems, without any violent protests and at the end of the day we could have a new president.

I will try to post tomorrow the results at the end of the day or any related news.
