The equation is not to be solved for x but for k.
You need to find values of k such that x = -1 and x= -3 are 2 valid roots.
k = 1 is just one of the solutions. You will find the equation has roots whenever k > 3/4 or k

its saying x=-3 or x=-1 so there you have the two valid roots of the equation.
Anyway I don't get it when lamont says "find the value of the values of K" It doesn't make sense.
Find the value = 1 value
the values= 2 or more values
So does K have one or more values ?? Perhaps the problem should say: Find the value OR the values of K so that .....
@Lamont where did you get this problem from ? And are there any answers as options ? Cheers
