I say GO North Korea.
It just pisses me off that some countries are seen as threats and others aren't.
So your saying the either everyone is a threat or no-one is a threat?
N.Korea is a threat to Japan.
Pakistan is a threat to India and vice-versa, etc etc etc
If the UN didn't exist lots more countires would be threats to others. The UN is there so countries sort out their problems through debate and discussion. N Korea seems to have a problem with this.

Eventually everything will be balanced out. We can't have a situation where only six countries have nuclear weapons. I don't agree with WMD's but if that's what it takes to keep everyone sane than I agree let them proliferate.
India won't attack Pakistan vice versa because they both know they face being wiped out...Even Iran would not dare fire a missile at the Jewish State...Israel will just retaliate and wipe Iran off the map.
I agree the UN is pretty pointless if they can't intervene militarily instead of endless debates while people are dying in places like Darfur.

You seem to be saying that either everyone has nukes or no-one. If no-one had nukes then would that make the world a safer place? I think not. Sadly there will always be wars - with or without nukes.
The sad fact is that nukes do exist whether we like it or not and that is something we all have to deal with together by controlling them together. Hence the NPT.
Do you honestly think that piling all the nukes together in a big basket then sharing them out equally to all the countries in the world is a good idea and we will all live happily every after?

This isn't necessarily true. When you take into account the population of India and look at the Pakistani Nuclear arsenal it would sustain heavy loss of life but it would be far from being wiped out.

I agree with this somewhat but ask yourself what would happen if it did intervene militarily. Do you know how many N Koreans are in the military?

@goldenface: IMHO, more nukes won't make the world a safer place but it's the final deterant when countries with little resources face the threat of invasion from warmongering superpowers.
Every little tinpot dictator is looking at Iraq as a prime example of what could happen if you're not suffeciently armed. Now with all that history and threats of attacks against Iran and Syria how are you expecting the North Koreans to be rational.

@Brix25
Why on earth would the USA want to invade N Korea?
1st of all, China is right on its doorstep and I am not sure she would be happy about an invasion of its ally.
2nd The North Korean Army numbers
6 million? I mean would you?
The US has no intention of invading N Korea. Yes, it would prefer it if N Korea was more like its S Korean neighbour.
I think most countries would. However, launching test ballistic missiles towards and over Japan, a country that only has a self defence force and no nukes, and then detonating nukes underground and threatening to put the two together, isn't exactly a recipe for peaceful relations.

@goldenface: When dealing with nutcases like Kim Jong Il, rational thought is never considered. He's looking at the example of Sadaam Hussein probably paranoid that the US might try the same tricks.
Okay, six million armed personel might be challenging but ask someone like Donald Rumsfeld and he'll probably tell you they could invade North Korea with a 2 million strong force.

I'd like to see the U.S go after Kim Jong il now since he has REAL WMD's and not make believe ones which dubya and Co very openly lied about....but somehow i doubt that america will have the guts to go against a proper adversary....but on the other hand i also wish they do because they will get a good walloping.

@axxxr Although they tested a weapon they won't have the capability to actually launch a nuke missile for another 5 years. Hopefully he'll be talked around by then. That is unless you'd be pleased seeing Japan and S Korea obliterated....
