> My phone fell in the BATH!

I dropped my old phone into my dogs water bowl a while ago, and the way I dealt with it was to turn it off straight away and stick it in the airing cupboard to dry out, worked perfectly fine afterwards.

@fatreg
I doubt it mate
Spray cleaner drives out water, oils, detergents etc. but it's no good at removing corrosion. The idea is to get the phone to bits and spray it before the water and other shite has time to damage the components.

see how it works..
ive a few water damaged phones..
will it correct ones that are fudged?
fatreg
Sorry fatreg, if the damage is done it is unlikely to cure them, this would only stop corrosion on any exposed terminals/connections becoming a problem later

I don't know about the UK, but here in the Netherlands Samsung (as only manufacturer), repairs water damaged phones as far as possible, cleaning, removing corrosion, etc. Of course you don't have any guarantee then. As mentioned before, don't know whether they also do this in the UK, but it's worth a try. Good luck!

You should get some money for it, even water damaged on ebay. It'll still be good for parts, especially the screen.
Is it all the buttons that are playing up, or just the top ones under the screen? Could be a connector for the data ribbon that goes between both parts of the phone that has been damaged, or even worse the connectors on the phone have been corroded, sadly not much you can do about that unless very handy and careful with a soldering iron!

Ripping out the battery and let the phone dry are the two most important things to do.
The water itself can cause corrosion, and the most noticeable problems are keypad not working properly, or display not functioning properly (corrosion in the display connector to the circuit borad). These problems are not very serious thoug, they can easily be fixed by a service centre by simply cleaning everything. These problems don't occur immediately, however, but after a while, after the corrosion has spread so much so that the contact fails in the keypad or in the connectors.
A more severe problem is if the power is turned on. The water may short-circuit some critical parts of the circuit board, causing permanent and expensive damage to the circuits. So turn the phone off immediately, that's the most important thing.
