I do not agree. I have it working for nearly a month now, the only thing that does not work is installing programs from the phone, but you can transfer the files to the phone and install it from there.

I also got the roll back problem at 100% at first, the reason for this is in my opinion that the PC Suite reaches a level in the installation process where Vista requires another confirmation that the program is allowed to install itself or whatever component but as PC Suite is not compatible with Vista yet it does not work. I think I solved this by turning off the administration confirmation (or whatever it is called exactly) in Vista. I think you can do it from somewhere in the Vista menu or you install the free Version of TweakIV from http://www.totalidea.com, I think you already are asked during installation to turn it off. Then try to install Sony Ericsson PC-Suite again and you should get over the roll back problem. After that you can switch on the Vista administrator rights protection again if you like. People who did switch this off before trying to install PC Suite never encountered the problem, that is probably the reason why it is not mentioned in the otherwise excellent instructions above in this post.

Nope, sorry still didn't work. Any other ideas? I've complained to SE that as an owner of the flagship P990 this is completely unacceptable but got a standard message saying " We're working on it"!!!

ok i've got mine working here's how it goes:

1,Goto control panel -> user accounts -> Turn user account control on /off -> Untick UAC box -> ok -> restart.
2,Follow neilbcool's post above
3, You will get the same old error and think it aint worked, but this time when you press close a new 'Toshiba Bluetooth error appears, close this and the installer pauses for around 5 mins. It'll then finish the install.
4, Restart
5, Enjoy SE PC suite in all its vista glory

Versions used:
SE PC suite: 1.2.15
Orca 3.1.4000.2049
Vista Ultimate x64 RTM

goodluck guys.....

I followed Niel's instructions, but also got the msxml error. I was able to solve this one by searching for the folder where it installs these files, and chang its ownership. The folder is a system folder under Windows, I don't recall the name of it. You have to change the ownership from System/Trusted Installer, to admin/yourself. Then you have to give yourself full control. This allowed these files to be copied in.

I also copied the existing msxml files in this folder out before I installed, just to make sure it wouldn't overwrite these files and was copying new (but more outdated) ones in. I don't think this step is necessary, however.

Well, the install went to almost the end before I got error messages stating that it failed to register several DLL's. The installiation finished, however, without rolling back. I've heard that you can manually register a DLL with Regsvr32, but I haven't tried this yet.

When I start the application it gives an error message about a configuration file or something not being able to load. This is no doubt caused by the missing DLL's. Anyway, this seems like a futile cause. Even i f I successfully register these DLL's and by some miracle the application launches, I believe that I still need drivers for my USB Cabled Sony Ericsson Z500 phone. The PC Suite alone does not contain these drivers correct?

ok, now that I have my new vaio (the most powerful one ever built apparantly! ) and everything has installed first time except SE suite!

I called SE support today who said 10 times in one minute that vista is not supported and reaffirmed several times that they had no idea when pc suite would be compatible with vista.

But... then I remembered this thread and decided to give it a go and so now I wanna take time to thank:

Illidian for his initial post
neilbcool for his version of Illidian's post which made a little more sense to me
jsmills for the final clue that got this going for me

good work guys!

Well if you got it working from the three sources, why don't you create a guide to help us all out Mr. Smarty Pants?

Hi there,
Thanks for the posts

I've followed the install procedure as per the posts, worked well.
I can backup, use filemanager.

But
I'm getting an error message when I try to sync -
"Sync controller module has stopped working"
Could it be Office 2007?

Cheers
