I bet ya that there is one of the thrid party apps you might have installed after the re-flash. I know this is tedious, but you could re-flash again, and then insatll apps one by one and test and see which one caused your issue.
It happened on my P900

OK, this is kind of a dead thread, but here goes.
Since the problem is restricted to a certain contact, I guess it's the same problem I had. The thing is, if you have a number in both the phone memory an the SIM-card, and also have a voice control for that number, a lot of strange stuff happens:
Contacts are not shown by name on calls and messages (not sure if this happens to all contacts or just the problematic ones)
Messages from the problematic contacts become "incomplete".
The contact app. can't read/write Contacts from/to the SIM-card anymore.
The simple solution is to wipe the contacts from the SIM-card, but if you only have the P990 to play with, you have to remove the voice control first.
A quite bizarre bug, so I hope

knows about it...

@jalf
I had the above named problems and googled around a bit, found the reason, popped in my sim card into my Z600 (since I had a bit too many voice control recordings done) and cleared the SIM there. Now my P990i is happy again.
I don't know, but it might be caused by my non-3G SIM. (I got a new SIM (with 3G support) now and haven't tried loading any contacts onto it.)

@jalf
Ok, then my speculations were wrong about the SIM being the culprit.
Are your problems gone? I've got no problems since I wiped my SIM.

Well guys, thanks for the info that I'm not the only one with this idiotic problem (even after Master Reset and Update from SEUS strange behavior re-appears after some time)!
@firetech
I have 3G card (USIM) and the same sh.. happens, so it probably has nothing to do with the type of SIM!
I'll try your "trick" and hopefully it will help (like it did for @jalf) but the only real solution would be if SE makes some fix in next firmware release!
br,
Boki
