Similar issue:
I have created a GIF file ( for a screensaver).
The properties are 101 * 80 , as the file res. should be, but when I transfer it to the T68i, all I get is an empty box in the middle of the screen, and not what I intended to upload.

p.s I am transferring it from my PC via IR to the T68i.

Try giving it a couple of minutes to load, especially if it's a big GIF

Yeah I did try that, still no joy.
Would it help if I used a specific application to do the upload, rather than 'clicking on the infra-red icon in the status bar and using the wireless link to send the files', although I dont see why this wouldnt work, as it works for sending standard background images.
Is there a specific value for the 'bits-per-pixel' perhaps?

I do this daily.. I never had any problems with sending them to my phone thru InfraRed.. I just selected the animated GIF, right mouseclick... Send to: InfreRed Recipient... After that I have to wait for a few minutes.. And then it's ready for use!
