thats not true mate, just look at the P990 and Wlan threads to see the problems many members have had.

make sure the router is compatable with 802.11b, most modern ones are 802.11g but also do the 'b' - which is needed by the p990.

I'll rephrase....

All routers are compatible, so long as they are setup correctly for the P990.

and that means making sure they use b, or b+g rather than g only.

no, the p990i even if the router is configured properly will not work properly if at all.

i tried a linksys, a gigafast ( cheap brand ) , a dlink 4300 game fuel,

the linksys would connect and work , and sometimes it would connect and not work.

the gigafast worked all the time

the dlink would not work with fw 1.4 it would connect but u coudlnt surf, until i upgraded to 1.5 and 1.6 and since then i have yet to experience a issue.

Untrue.

My experience tells me different. Safecom router does not work.
Setting are configured correctly and does not function at all with the P990i.

heres a REALLY cheap option:

http://en.fon.com/

Works fine with my p990 and has other benifits too.

Also fyi the login in using another users fon the ssl login page works fine too!

Just to clearup the usual worry about fon - you get one SSID for home use and one for shareing. Therefore your home network is behind a wpa-psk encription (compatible with p990).

EDIT: Also I have found that, belkin, dlink and netgear routers all worked fine, even over an encripted link.

I use the D_link home, with 128 bit WEP encryption. My P990 connected w/o any issues, from the first try.
I can pick up any unsecured WI-FI networks (if available, duh...) or I can setup any access to secured networks.
This was said ealier in the post, but any router should work. They should all adhere to the same standard, when it comes to protocols and encryptions, thank god for standardization.

my P990i worked fine with my ADSL belkin router... lifetime garentee with belkin also

good that because mine packed up after a year and the replaced it with the newer model.

i got a great deal on mine from dabs.com £49.99 + a free USB network adapter. this deal wont still be on now but even at £69.99 its still a good price.

What model was that. My LinksysWRT54GL is working great together with my P990. I use 64bit wep coding and MAC-filter.
