we know

is slowly increasing its smartphone line.
with UIQ under their wings, we'll probably see an update in their UI on normal phones. like the Z558 a normal phone with limited touchscreen options.

Oh you mean like Motorola? Yeah they like screwing over other companies.
However this better mean more quality implementation between interface & Symbian & with the hardware components. If not then SE will be stuck with it, no1 will want it.

The BIG problem is now UIQ is no longer in the "loop" as it is not part of Symbian Ltd. And it no longer has "insider" info on symbian OS which UIQ is based on. So UIQ will longer get product direction and tech know-how so easily.

Actually MIK Ericsson was the first manufacture to SUCCESSFULLY ship a Symbian OS device (wasnt UIQ then). Symbian is owned in shares by a group of Manufacturer's which include SonyEricsson (which is STILL lobbying to get the share of ownership under Ericsson's brand name; limitations of incorporation are being held back), Nokia owning the biggest stake 42%, and Motorola, Samsung, etc making up the rest. Sendo's stake is bought by Motorola.
