Okay, he's gone. So what? Do you really think that it will change the way the current regime is run? He might not be in the public eye but rest assured he will fade into the background and operate in the shadows. He will still be a strong influence on the US's foriegn policy.
Also (slightly off topic), the democrats winning the house of representatives and most likely the senate, won't make a blind bit of difference on the big issues such the enviroment and foriegn policy. Remember, the politicians you see in public, don't have nearly as much power as you think they do.
Still, it's good to see that evil man go.

I really don't think this will make any difference.
There are still many hawks in the current administration and Rumsfeld will still be quite influential on foreign policy issues.
The Democrats are less hawkish and believe more in diplomacy when sorting out the worlds problems - hopefully it will be a new peaceful era although there is still huge problems to face such as:
How to deal with the rise of China as a superpower - America and Europe are now having to compete for scarce Natural Resources - how will they keep their respective economies going.
Will they still be able to influence the world politically, managing their national interests
The environment - global warming is now to be dealt with as a matter of urgency.
Although I have faith the Democrats would do a better job with these issues.

We should start to see some changes in policy now. Bush and his cronies have not lost control of the House of Representatives and the Senate so it'll be harder for them to bring out crackpot or plain lunatic laws, I don't think we'll see any more countries been invaded for a while yet!
Lets hope the American people finish the job in 2 years and chuck these hawkish Republicans out!

Dare I say it they need another President Clinton. He was a good sort and good for the world in general.
Edit: Even if he couldn't keep his pecker in his pants.

I'd rather see a president who kept staining dresses than a warmonger who can't string a sentence together, at least not without all his aides and advisors!
Let's have someone with brains, I don't care even if it means they are sometimes in their pants!

Rumsfeld resignation summarized in Mac OSX screenshot!
looks like Bush has already found a replacement for Rumsfeld, his name is
Robert Gates (no relation to Bill).
And looks like he's no saint either,he's better known as a Iran-Contra crook and ex-CIA chief.
