No not january it is expected for april 2007 but expect it to be delayed.

I would say investing in the p990 would be a wise idea as the n95 is miles away. Also by the time n95 is out the p990 will pretty much be error free. Also when the n95 comes out expect it to be buggy. I recon it will take a few months for the n95 to be at a good capacity.

If you are urgently looking for the ultimate phone then don't wait and buy the p990 + 4gb pro duo, if you are in no rush then wait for the n95.

Hope my opinion helps

Hi all,
Sorry to be a killjoy and i do admire your optimism but i do think its more a question of if they fix it all rather then when. Personally i would go for the N93 but then i don't like sliders nor want my GPS in my phone i prefer my own solution for this and Tom Tom 6. 3G is more than fast enough for me and so is the camera and video especially with the improvements already announced for the soon to be available firmware upgrade.

All I know is that I am absolutely amazed with P990. I had P910 for a long time and at one point I thought it has everything I need from a smartphone. Then P990 came and improvements are beyond my expectation:

- Really good 2mp camera. Now I take pictures every now (nothing is missed any more)

- Wi-fi. Maybe it is 802.11b but at my home I surf like anything (landscape), download big files and talk, writting massages etc, at the same time. It is simply a fantastic feature.

- USB mass storage. Fast transfer of files and no need for a card reader.

- Astonishing high resolution screen. To watch movies and surfing internet is a real pleasure, with all those clear collors and moves.

- I am going to buy stereo bluetooth headset, can't wait to listen music in that way (and talk since voice dailing works without failure and I like to drive a car)

- querty keyboard (one hand writting while walking is now a pleasure for me)

- editing office files in landscape mode. It is not a toy any more (as it was a bit in P910).

I can writte much more but all I want to say is that I have already waited for a long time and now it is time for me to enjoy a bit and relax because I am really satisfied with this P990 beauty.

Where do you get that misinformation from?!
Is is *expected* Q1 2007. My friend is a senior tester for Nokia multimedia division and when I spoke to him last week for he said it will be out at the end of Jan. 07.

Well I considering I have M600i already I would call P990 an "investment", more like just an added convenience of the camera. If M600i had a camera I really wouldnt worry as much - I dont need wi-fi.

However the GPS really interests me, since I use street maps for walking cities and I travel a lot to different places, so that is a huge attraction in the N95.

I may see if I can find a used P990i perhaps.

By the way, where is best place to get the 2GB of 4GB card?

I'm actually waiting for the replacement of the p990i, and I don't mean an upgrade as in p900i to p910I. I know I may have to wait a while but I'm patient, my p910i is still good to me. I feel the n95 is the phone to get, not that I would buy a nokia. For once nokia came up with a great design and slightly smaller. Great features too!

P910 is undoubtedly a great phone. I had one for a year and half. Reading all those negative comments about P990 I too was used to say that P910 is fine with me and that I will avoid this new P series. But fortunately I listened to some people on this forum who were satisfied with P990 and bought it. The difference I faced was amazing. It should be seen in order to understand.

@koto- I hear you but I'm disappointed with what SE's done with the p series this time around. I mean, other than the 2mp camera, wifi and the fm radio what else does the p990 have to offer? I do love the design though even though the screen is slightly smaller than the p910.

I will get my P990 soon I hope as IMO it's fantastic and is getting fixed with updates.
You should ask yourself what form of input you want really as that's the main difference between the two, the touchscreen interface. I would also wait to read reviews on the N95's battery performance as we all know the N80 is aweful, especially once you start using it's features heavily.
If you can wait till next year then do so, you'll know weather the N95 is any good or not and you'll know the P990 will be working bug free by then as well.
