well, the money was primerally donated by people that wanted the device to get smashed up. any extra cash could be considered revenue

I hate waste at the best of times, and this is an awful one!
Just seems like an expensive and wasteful way of getting a bit of attention.
It's far easier to become known or famous for destroying something than it is for actually making something or actually doing something worthwhile in your life rather than smashing something then shouting your website's name at the end in some desperate attempt to be known. Hell, they probably even also enjoy being slagged off as it's publicity, and any publicity is good publicity.

the wii's are not that expensive anyway so they could easily buy another 1 or 2 and keep them instead of smashing them up
