I don't think a religion invented in some science fiction writers back yard should be recognised,take some of the things they believe in and practice...A Scientologist woman isn't allowed to scream when having birth,...A Scientologist isn't allowed to take anti-depresents..A Scientologist cannot seek phsychiatric advice or help...these are the ones i know of im sure they are more silly ones like that.

The whole thing is weird and freaky!
As long as they don't try and force it down my throat then good luck to'em!

Well I’m sure if a billion people ended up converting it would be (who knows). And all religions have what is seen as strange rituals to others not of said religion.

I was once cornered by a group of Scientologists in central london and they literally dragged me into their lair ...the only reason i let them do it because they were a couple of stunning girls.
Anyway they made me fill out a bunch of forms which took me a good hour and then handed me 2 large books on Scientology and then told me they would be in touch,.which they did..kept sending me information packs on their belief and were continually asking for money for more books and information.

Think they have a new office in the city, wonder how they manage to afford it? Where does the money come from, donations by members i guess?

@joebmc
The catholic church is rolling in money while people go begging. I've seen pensioners give their last penny when the pot comes around in church.
Those American evangelists own huge stadiums to preach in and sit on fortunes.
Even some charities have millions in the bank - saving for a rainy day.

It amazes me how people donate towards their respective churches,Mosques,Temples or any other place of worship just to make them themselves feel good about themselves...and yet the only ones who feel good are the people who own the place of worship or the ones who collect the donations.

@axxxr
My sentiments exactly.
I'd rather give to the poor man in the street than give to the church.

I'm with you on that one completely!
I think whichever god you believe in...he/she or whatever being you have faith in would be far more pleased with you if you helped your fellow human being in need.
