Have you played 360 on a regular tv? It's still one hell of an improvement over the old Xbox!!!

I was purely reffering to looks and design, not cost or specs.

The Wii doesn't use HD so I don't think it requires a HDTV...
Correct me if I'm wrong?
I personally don't like the Xbox nor the 360 design and along with what I see as a weak library as well, lacking unique games, I won't buy one. I mean you can practically get every Xbox game on the other consoles or the PC and generally be better anyway, ecspecially if on the PC, such as Microsoft's way overated Halo games. The Wii is a great and very creative console, which I will be happy to buy, though my priority goes to the PS3, which is the most powerful of the three consoles, has a beautiful feel and design and will in time once again have the greatest and biggest library, like the PS1 and PS2 before it. People can complain about the price if they want to or humbly accept it and save up if they want a PS3, but what people forget is that what Sony are selling you for £425 costs them well over £900 each.

@garlic_bread, I think you have been mislead.
On a SD TV the textures are quite a vast improvment over the original xbox, hugely detailed on my Sony Vega, not sure about your'se or your friends tv. No contest.
Just bought myself a nice pc with a high res wide screen lcd monitor, pc cannot match the 360 in terms of graphical detail in HD, I am very pleased with the 360.
I would like to see what the PS3 can do but dont think there will be too much of a difference. Most games will not be even 1080p as Sony have said all along now. We will see I guess.

I have played with a 360 on various occassions in my local GAME shop using a HDTV, and no matter what the game be it Lego Star Wars II (highly addictive by the way) or Call of Duty 2, I am never impressed visually with the 360. I know specs wise it is more powerful that the Xbox, but all I'm seeing is brighter and faster gameplay, graphically I wouldn't say it's a massive or even great improvement.
I have played on a PS3 and to be honest I loved it, and from what I've seen online and from what I played the PS3 is vastly better than the 360. I feel that Microsoft just wanted a quick money grabber before the other two competitors arrived, Wii and PS3. Sony are yes more experienced in this market, but I think that it's fair to say that if Microsoft had waited a bit longer and really done all that they could with the 360 it could easily challenge the popularity of the Wii and PS3, even perhaps do well in Japan.
Currently PC's that are actually "high" end crush the 360, such as my computer lol. Though I admit that the PS3 does at the moment have an upper hand on the PC visually, as the graphics are genuinely breathtaking, but as always, computers make them and computers will break them. Some of the early games won't be able to use the full visual powers of the PS3 nor the HDTVs, but they won't at the start of a consoles life, the power must be contained and unleashed only when safe lol. If 360s actually play at 1080i then I'll be dammed...
The 360 I feel will not be anywhere near as popular as the Wii or PS3, as since release Microsoft have only sold 7 million consoles and is now just loaming along with no real grace. If this is Microsoft's idea of a head start, oh my god. The Wii and PS3 are already in the hundreds of thousands and rising quickly. With the PS2 selling over 100 million I think Microsoft are ok to feel afraid with the Wii and PS3 on their tail right now. Before the PS3 and Wii were released, when the 360 for it's time held the throne safely from the Wii and PS3, the PS2 was outselling it still every month, what does that tell you?

Apparently 360 can now do 1080p with a software upgrade, with the HD-DVD player.
I must admit that my pc only has a mid range 3d card, ati x1600pro, sayin that i would still prefer to play FEAR on the PC over the 360. It does a fine job!
Having bought Gears of War two days ago and liking it muchly, there is now way that the original xbox could display visuals of the quality that the 360 shows in that game. I would say the same for Call of Duty 2 aswell, which i own.
It really annoys me all this 360 bashing for what it can or cannot do when compared to the PS3 when very little people have played the PS3 and that these people are mostly fan boys!

Well I'm not a fanboy, I'm just stating my opinions and also what I have learnt from facts and statistics etc. Also I'm not bashing the 360 so to speak, but just marking where I think Microsoft have gone wrong with the 360. It's a great console, of course it is, well worth the cost. But I just feel that it's a little lost in the gaming world at the moment and that it wasn't given the thought in creation as Sony and Nintendo has given there NexGen consoles.
And believe me when I say that there are a lot more mis-informed Xboys and Nintenboys than there are Sony fans. Sony appeals much more to the older gamer market e.g. adults and older teenagers, so generally most are ok and make sense, the ones that do speak crap are basically fools that claim to have one when they don't. Microsoft to the same market but for those that either don't have the money for a PS3 or don't wish to pay that much, and then Nintendo to the same market e.g. adults and teenagers but also really bringing in the younger community as well to complete the cycle.
Also be aware that I'm not comparing the 360 with the others, just using the other consoles to emphasise how the 360 hasn't turned out what it should have been.

Yeah, sorry if I sound as though I am having a go, had a few brews tonight.
This is a discussion I have regulary with my mates, they still play PS2 and think its still the greatest console around (Sony fan boys). Maybe sales wise but certinaly not hardware wise.
I would say that i am not to happy about the release Schedule for the 360 here in Australia, think that it came out abit to early, not to many quality games to choose from. Thats why I bought my PC, a change and larger library of games. Thought not as bad as PS3, 5 games on release. That I would say is very premaure and could only hurt Sony my than they have hurt them selves recently.
I would like to see them do well with the PS3 though/
