Does it read any memory sticks? could be a faulty mem stick reader on the phone itself?

Hi,

Memory stick Pro Duo does work on K750i. Did you buy it from ebay? if you bought from ebay you may have got one of the fake ones. for example, it may be a 512MB card pretending to be a 1GB. this may fool the PC thru the card reader. but not the K750i.

Have a search for "fake memory stick pro duo ebay" in google.

my k750 has a 2gb mspd. there is always a pause tho when i insert it into the phone, so im guessing that the larger mem cards take longer to load

indeed, mine is a 1gb mspd and it takes a while to read it, so it stops few seconds.

I have 2 memory cards for my W800. One 512 MB (the factory one) and one of 1GB. Both are Sandisk and they work GREAT. When putting bigger capacity cards in your phone the only thing you lose is the time that the phone takes to read the files from the card, but it is not much longer than the 512 one . So for now, the 1Gb is EXCELLENT.

I have been using an 1GB memory card for my K750. You can use an 1GB memory card but the problem is it makes the phone a bit slow. I believe 2GB will make it even slower though it doesn't affect your that much.
