I bought my in a second-hand shop, but it was new, it just had a previous owner. I paied around 140 USD for it (900 NOK)
It's working perfekct, but my memory card reader can't read it. So I have to connect my P990i to my computer. And that so MUCH slower

it should auto format when it is placed in the phone, couple of Q's does it show up when placed in a card reader?..did u buy from a trustworthy source?
Oy,yes indeed, we bought from a very trustworthy source (through Uppsala University, this is not my private thing). Nothing happens when I install the memory stick. When I go to the File manager I see two folders, "MEMSTICK" and "MSTK_PRO", each with a large, red question mark in front of the respective folder names. When I click any of these two folders, I get an error message saying (iun Swedish, my language) something like "The format is not recognized", file name MEMSTICK.IND (or MSTK.PRO.IND) and Size 0B.
When I use try to format the stick (on the P990i), I get a message saying something like "When you format you will lose all data". That's obvious and
what I want. After anseering "Yes" to the question "Do you want to coninue?", I get the message "Formatting. You cannot use the memory stick until it has been formatted". About 5 seconds later, the activity stops and my screen hioghlights the "Uninstall" line and asks for a name. From there on I cannot get any further, only redo the same meaningless things all over again...
I would be very glad for any kind of hint or help!

Problem solved. But I don't know how and why

. After playing around with various settings and commands, all of a sudden, the 4 GB card became avaialble and I have now been able to download a few tens of MB onto it.
Thanks for the encouragement which made be believing it was indeed possible to use this card on my P990i.
