it ll run the basic vista but i doubt it will run any of the fancy aero graphics. most laptops without a separte graphics card will struggle with it.
for the money and specs its not bad.
though if i were you i d save up a bit and wait a week or two you may see price drops and may be able to pick up a better spec ed one for very little more

as for buying vista you should get a voucher to upgrade for free. if you dont qualify because of the price of the laptop i consider putting the money you d spend on vista and buy a better spec d laptop one were you get a free vista upgrade when its available
