Are we having a bit of Racism between the Scots and the English now?

We are all part of this great island and thats what matters, being British represents us all.

That comment of hers about bringing back slavery... it's just outrageous. I'm gob-smacked.

Mind you, if she wants to be my slave, I imagine I could fit her in.

I find this quite disturbing that these are views of a educted person from a decent upper class family.

Does this really reflect our british society today?or is this all just a storm in a tea cup?..you decide!

Yes how silly she is and very ignorant as well. If it wasn't for the asians, africans and west indians I don't think Britain will be Britain as we know it today. I find it so interesting to meet all sorts of people from different back grounds and cultures.

yeh that was quite shocking and the first comment that:

\"I just don't appreciate people coming into our country and taking over our culture\"

I was more shocked of the fact that she's only 18 years old and from a well to do family.

The younger generation should be fighting against these sort of attitudes and views.

very dissapointing that we have people like this in 2007.

as far as what was said on shipwrecked - I'm also gob smacked to see the 'higher' educated people saying similar things as 'lower' educated Jade Goodie... people are too naive these days to see the problems that are really in front of them - they just jump on the nearest bandwagon and point the finger....

i mean to even mention slavery in this day and age, especially this country is disgusting. So much for equal rights eh?!?

i think the the root of most racist rants are due to jealously in that people now have to work harder, fight for their jobs and not given things on a plate.... i see nothing wrong with this, if anything it helps Britain become a stronger country (if you look at the bigger picture)...

now as for this silly British, Scottish blah blah blah.... come on peeps, how ridiculous do you sound? I'm welsh and most certainly British... in fact id be happy to call myself British.... but in discussing this aren't we missing the point this thread was intended for?

But one final thing i want to say is these are only opinions (jade goodies, and the shipwrecked girl) i personally think a mountain is being made here when in actual fact i don't think the people saying these things intended to be as harmful as what they have been... i guess what i mean is, why do people also jump on the racism bandwagon?? and take a something one narrow minded person says as offensive - surely in winning attitude would be something more on the lines of 'doh, ill educated girls there - sad really, they'll never be happy with that kind of attitude'.... anyone with a ounce of sense would have seen them and thought 'plonker'....

Well I don't think her being from a well-to-do family has anything to do with it.

Just because she may be from a wealthy family doesn't automatically mean she should know any better - she could be just as thick and offensive as the next person.

She should be made to go and work with under-privileged children from ethnic backgrounds for a week or two - that would sort her stupid emaciated mind out.

I am surprised at Channel4. I used to love watching Shipwrecked when it was on TV Sunday morning. It didn't need another ratings push ala Jade Woody.

On the British issue, I too know a couple of Scots who hate being called British because they don't want to be taking the flak for all the wrong-doing the English have done in the past.

Plus, if I'm not mistaken, I seem to remember both the West Country and Yorkshire murmurings for self-rule.
