At the back of my mind I knew someone was gonna say this!
Are you serious bro?You remind me of comedian Chris Rock when he said "...And All the good rappers are dead,Tupac's dead,Biggie Small's dead,Jam Master Jay's dead.Vanilla Ice's still alive"Ha Ha Ha.
C'mon Bro!

Nate dogg has one of the best voices, am also a fan of Warren G. I respect the work of pac, but was never a major follower.

I also am a huge fan of more upbeat work, like that of nelly, who's behind only Jay-Z as the biggest selling artist in the genre. However only just behind and is soon gonna take over even JZ.

Big nelly fan, but love Nate's voice. Specially in "Shake that Ass".

-Rant-
Fook me, i came on this thread expecting a decent conversation about proper HipHop and what am i greeted with?
People actually mentioning the names of 'The Game' and 'Akon'
Are you guys serious?

That isnt HipHop, its manufactured PopHop that is truely awful.

If anyone actually wants to hear PROPER HipHop then you need to check artists like Mos Def, Talib Kweli, The Roots, Common, Black Star, A Tribe Called Quest etc The list is endless of good, proper HipHop that doesnt just talk about easy women, money and cars

If you have to go mainstream though, atleast listen to the better ones out there like Jay-Z, Nas, Lupe Fiasco

@J-j & vincebio
lt's so true what you're brothers are saying.Hip hop is so commercialized nowadays.It's all about bling-bling,but as you said there's still MC's out there who really do it in the name of rap.To add in J-j's list l did mention Dead Prez earlier on.
On the other hand,MC's want to sell their records & if they don't mention all that crazy stuff about money,woman(don't want to use that degrading word if you know what I mean),they think they won't sell because a lot of people out there are after the beat,not the real meaning of hip hop.Take 50 Cent forinstance,He mostly raps about cars,money and you know what else,& he's selling.He hardly touches on reall issues.
