Its not really just down to the network. Years ago i remember sitting in a pub with a Sharp GX30 on Vodafone and i had a poor signal and yet my friend from work next to me on Vodafone had a Nokia and her signal was solid so you may have a network with not so many sites where you are but your phone may be good or bad at locating a signal from near or far. If you understood that one i hope so.

@sean - With that . . . it's SAFE to say here that Nokia OUTBEST the Sharp brand-fone when it comes to . . . SIGNAL-strength

I have also had several SE's now. We live in a converted chapel with thick granite walls, my wife has a Nokia and I have a 850i, when we are in the lounge I get a signal and she gets nothing. My work mobile is also a nokia and I can't get a signal on that either.

ive only had 2 se's w800i and w810i. my w800i had alot better signal than my w810i for some reason but i think that could have been to do with a new aerial being fitted

dont they have the same aerial? maybe k800 is a bit different, cos of the umts, but in average, the principal must be the same imo

Well, I have had K750i and it was REALLY WEAK in my appartment. Then I got K800i and the signal was VERY GOOD. Then I've got my P990i and the signal is VERY GOOD. My wife's Z558i rocks too. I think since new line of phones from SE the receivers they put are a lot better than the old ones ...-2005.

But when I am in the garage . . . it's all HELL breaks LOOSE

Some years ago when T68i was a big hit, some people complained about its reception capability. I have had T68i since May 2002 and I use it as my only mobile phone - I have never had any reception problems in Estonia and in foreign countries as well. And the speech quality is superb: very clear and clean even when the signal strength is 1 bar.
Only in airport of Pristina (Kosovo) in previous spring it took more time than usually when my phone at last found very weak signal of allowed network.
