the sound calibration is different in walkman phones. aside from megabass, you get a much richer audio quality. that is SE's way of giving you something extra for getting a walkman.
the clearest example is comparing the sound of the W950 with the M600 and P990. there is a big difference, even if you use the same headset.

honestly i dont think the walkman player is that big of an advantage...although i havnt really looked. how is the playliust management as someone said better than that of the k610 or similar media player. also sound qual is pretty good.

Walkman sound is a LOT BETTER than non-walkman SE. It is by the hardware, not the software. K750i and K800i has pretty bad sound output comparing with Walkman SE phones. P990i is much closer to any SE-Walkman phone sound quality.

we all have different EARS. so i think it is up to them. i keep saying that there's no difference but the walkman player.

Oh really? My k800 can play MP3, MP4/M4A, LC-AAC, WMA, AMR-WB (3GP)
Do enlighten me on what other formats a Walkman media player is able to play.
Yea, I agree that it's mostly a s/w difference (e.g. k750/w800)

i have a k800 + k750.i use the k750 as my main(only)mp3 player and cannot fault it for sound quality,playlist functions and ease of use.
its more practical than most of the newer walkman phones as it accepts the largest size of mem cards(i've got a 4 gb duo in mine)
it also has megabass which the later k series phones lack.
as for sound quality it blows away my k800 for loudness and plays most file extentions.
i use it with a pair of hpm-70s which suit it best as i have tried a 3.5 mm adapter with other earphones.
the adapter affects the sound quality and loudness to a very noticable degree,lower in both counts.
my wife has a w300 + had a w810 so i've compared both to my k750 and the differences are minimal-the k750 would be viable choice if someone couldnt afford a walkman series phone.

I think W phones sound way better than regular SE phones. At least that's the case with my W800 - K790 duo. The W800 blows the cyber-shot away with much nicer, richer audio playback and better volume, not to mention MegaBass (which I love).
