one thing i see happening in the future of se phones & don't like it 1 bit is that the charger/handsfree connector has been moved to the side of the phone instead of the bottom where it has always been.
anyone care to throw some light on me why se is implementing this move?

You reminded me of the recent wireless charging pads that have become available; with these and wifi / bluetooth, it may be possible soon to do away with wires altogether which would be brilliant.

i guess so, wireless definitely sounds good. but my question still remains unanswered. why has se moved the fast/pop port to the side of the new phones instead of the bottom?

I don't really care what SE does with the fast port although going micro/mini USB +3.5mm jack would be excelent. What worries me most is how slow S is getting. Nokia is making a direct attack at the Walkman brand and in some way its working. SE has been worried too much about diferentiating the walkman and cybershot brands that in some way walkman is suffering. Well everything is to be honest. SE is giving people tonnes of choice in the mid high end category. The problem is they aren't leaders in the very high end and their presence in the mid low is almost nonexistant. All SE has is the W200 which is way overpriced for what it has to offer and now with the W700 gone from well Egypt at least the next walkman up is the W810, which is slightly cheaper than the W610. So where's a W500, an upgraded K510 or something. Even the K510 which was a little too expensive hasn't got a successor, something actually good.

Here's what I'd like, I'd like SE to actually collaborate with nokia. I want S60 on SEs, they should get to add their own themes and reorganise it but the program support is what's needed. As I said diversity is good but move down a little. Yes, the margins are lower but they're better than the ultra low end SE's getting itself into. So stop the over crowding with the candybars and start to give more attention to the slightly lower end. Diversify your markets too look for growth elsewhere outside of Europe because that can only last so long till most people get bored and try something else like Lg or something.

does need to diversify from Europe and look towards Latin America and the Caribbean and North America in addition.

If you look at it now in the US there are moves afoot to get networks to get out of that criminal system of not allowing persons to move around with their own phones and paying for incoming calls.
This means a bigger share of the pie for phone makers when persons would be able to just buy what they really want and like and then shop around for companies.

Another thing is that phones such as the P990 and p1 aren't made for the US market and as such persons who buy them to use here and home(the Caribbean) lose out with such things as no 850mhz. I am now going to be selling my P990i later this week and not buy the P1 but buy the Nokia n75 or the n95. I really need a quad band phone that allows me to move around without something as mundane as coverage tying me up.

Next they need to start selling lower end phones, not that I would want any but that is where Nokia is succeeding so well and beating out other companies.

Look at Nokia's launch of a whole heap of clamshells aimed at the US. needs to look at these things.

Is the K850i the first phone that takes 2 formats of memory cards?

That will be more of a feature in more phones soon.

@mustafabay, so you don't really have a logical explanation as to why se has moved the fast/pop port to the side of the phone. btw, i do care as i like the handsfree/charger plugged in at the bottom of the phone rather than the side of the phone as it obstructs holding & handling the phone while charging the phone or listening to radio.

^K850i is the first phone to read both M2 and MicroSD. This actually hints that Sony Ericsson is hinting a change in a future. I hope Sony Ericsson will be moving towards phones with MicroUSB, TV Out, 3.5 mm headphones, and M2/MicroSD card reader for the phones soon.

I think Sony Ericsson should have a better theme for their Java 8 phones, default with PSP style phone to match the new Walkman interface/Media interface. I don't really like the call/end buttons, as the reason I went to Sony Ericsson in the first place is because I like the back and clear keys...

Also I hope Sony Ericsson will develop two new lines of phones, the PSP or I like to call PSM (Play Station Mobile). It should be compatible with PS3 haha as a controller? iunno w/e just make it compatible. And a Bravia line for mobile tv.

With Nokia's latest announcement, I think Sony Ericsson will start their PSP line very soon and make sure Walkman 3 is better than Nokia's music offerings (which I still think their XpressMusic phones are super ugly, needing some BIG DESIGN sugery. I still don't see why people are so excited about Nokia's latest announcement...

Anyway I have faith that Sony Ericsson will enhance all their phone lines now. The newer phones remind me of a more Japanese design. To me, Japan phones = the best (although I don't really like all their plastic colours =P)
