It's a set of video tools, AVS is the company that makes it, "AVS Video Tools" is the software name, I use it for all my conversions, and have found it to be both the most reliable and the quickest, at performaing very high quality conversions.

best feature of smartmovie is the fact it makes the light to stay on wihout us having to change settings...but it has some performance issues when compared with the free pocket divx player

Mediacoder is also a VERY good and FREE universal encoding software.
Perhaps a bit tricky to set up, but so effective !
