It is 16 channels (not 24). Do not know how many instruments.

That sounds right. When I spoke to an SonyEricsson developer he said that the T300 had more channels than the P800, but I didn't ask how many.

Not that there's really that much difference though...

It doesn't sound shite IMO. But it's not all 'bout how many channels you can play through. The Samsung S100 has 16 channels, but it uses the whole Yamaha instrument set(256 instruments). So between those two(7650 and S100), the S100 definatly sounds the best!
