happens here too, mate. the price we pay for skinny pants. just something we have to live with. try putting it on the opposite side, meaning the lens cover facing the thighs? i find that it opens left often that way.
and crystal cases? i keep mine without one, by preference. i find that over 3 months, there's been no scratches at all on my k800 except on the lens cover.

same here, when i receive my K800, i straight cut a screen protector to paste to the camera cover, in the sense that it would protect my 3.2megapixels word as its not so sticky. if sticky it will peel of the 3.2 megapixels word with it.
then i paste a clear tape because the screenguard is not designed to be strong (it would peel off sometime when i put on my pocket). After the tape, several days after that i bought a silicon case (crystal case attack my W550i), its quite good to protect the K800i. And the last one, only sometimes i put it on the leather case.
So screenguard > tape > silicon case > leather case.
Its because i do not want to scratch the flagship of K800 (cyber-shot camera lid).
actually i still like crystal case, but too bad it'll scratch my phone again... so i use the silicon case (but hide nice brown colour of K800) in a purpose : avoid keypads scratch (i like 2 type sms using edge of my nail).
well somehow hope one day theres a solution to my madness

i wipe my phone everyday, the lens cover especially, 3-4 times a day with a wet and dry cloth. even though i basically rub it around, haven't noticed any fading on the wordings yet. this has been for 3-4 months, so i think it's rather durable printing.
and keypad scratches? i use my nails too all the time, yet to notice any fading.
think that the k800's shell is one of the best out there in terms of scratch resistance. even my t610 scratches easier.
