@GoldFinger,

There are no announced plans for SE to bring out a phone with GPS and i for one really don't get why every one suddenly wants GPS built in their phone. If GPS devices were large and heavy and suffered from bad battery life i could understand it. But the situation is the reverse stand alone GPS devices are small and light have great battery life and usually compared to the devices launched with GPS in them offer better performance so why bother cramming in yet more in a phone/ smart phone as i can see no advantage to it.

I can't tell you how fast I'll be all over this if the rumors are true. Love the form factor, and the additions mentioned paired with Simbian are just too amazing. I've got the K790i and while I like it alot, the calendar function is weak. It's just not a smart phone, so I've been putting up with it. This rumored M610i seems like exactly what I've been whining for!

@ Dogmann

I travel around london twice a week normally with a map in hand, i'd rather use GPS if possible and if it's fitted nicely in my phone then that means i don't have to carry two things..

Makes sense really,

You could argue why have a walkman in your phone , why have a camera , why have a smartphone when a laptop is better etc etc etc.. . It's a boring argument you will pick the phone that is right for you and i'll pick the phone that is right for me.

Internet on your mobile ahh why would i want that seriously thats the last thing I'D want, dammed if i'm gonna think that just because i don't want it that theres not a market out there for it..

I know that a phone with built in GPS would be a god send for me, also if i had a 5mp cam on board maybe just maybe i wouldn't have to lug around a digital camera too, but tbh for reasons of zoom the stand alone camera will probably still be coming on site with me. For the next couple of years anyway..

Think the reason people are talking about having GPS in there phones at the moment is because it's only just been made possibly, why would i have spoke about it two years ago when it was impossible... Are they as good as stand alone , doubt it but for me it would come for free with a new contract so weighing everything up if i can get it built in for free over having to buy and carry a second device which would i pick.

@GoldFinger,

Yes i understand the value of GPS as have been using a Holox BT-321 for quite some time now first with a P910 and Tom Tom 5 and now with Tom Tom 6 and my current device. But as i have tried to point out these devices are small and require virtually no effort to carry and also have better acquisition and fixes so are so far superior to a built in solution. The more you put in a device the more there is to go wrong, i can quite honestly say this is not high on my buying decision and is another reason why the N95 is not on my buy list as i don't perceive it as an upgrade from my N93. An extra 2 mega pixels but no 3x optical zoom, an inferior keypad and a less natural form factor for video shooting and not forgetting the Keypad are the others. Everyone is free to choose what they want but i just don't think it is so great which is just my opinion. Go check out some GPS units and see just how terrible it is to have take this 2nd bit of kit with you which would mean you could have your GPS solution now instead of having to wait well no knows just how long.
