i increased the volume to 100% and rebooted...but it always goes back to 50%.

Thats about the rear speaker...not the front speaker.The front speaker volume remains to what i have set(100%) but the rear speaker volume goes back to 50% as soon as u exit the Service menu.

Okay, just tried it several times and 1 out of 5 it worked. Most of the time there is NO sound in Front Speaker test... but when it is, it keeps the setting. For both speakers even.

@all
So are you saying that it works only for outgoing calls!and nothing would change for incoming calls?

Doesn't adjusting the volume with the jog wheel during the call do exactly the same thing? That's how it seems to me.

No - it works for any kind of calls - but only during calls. Ringtones or Mediaplayer won't get any louder by this.

@olly232: No - it's not the same. When you adjust the volume with the jog wheel during the calls with and without this trick to 100% - there is a major difference in volume. The max volume you can reach with this trick is much higher.

And it seems that not all firmware revisions have this crippled volume problem. Before updating to R9EC001 the volume of my phone was always like 100%.

By the way, it may be appropriate to mention here that the latest firmware update R5a17 corrects the problem that may have been there in R4 with respect to earpiece volume being so low.

Sorry to say this, but actually that is not very acurate. I updated to the latest firmware R5A17 and this is the actual firmware that have CAUSED the very low volume on my phone.

Anyone else experiencing it?

Well how to goto service menu.. me kinda new to dis fone.. thru jog dial?

Used P900 wayback it had much much better speakerphone
Wonder y they had to reduce the quality.. already symbian OS has limited software capabilities + if hardware is bad then it's Worse!

I was using O2 mini prior to dis and it's speaker phone was better/clearer/sharp than dis

I found out exactly the same on my P990. But on my phone the trick only works, if i set the test volume to 100% AND then switch to front speaker. I have tried with diffrent volumes (10%, 30%, 80%, etc.) and it makes a BIG diffrence. I can understand now other people on my phone. (R5A17)

i am the same low speaker , when i go to the service meny-speaker, the REAR test comes out first and i can lower it up or down, but when i switch it to the front speaker, no sound is coming out at all.

i dissassembled the phone, no damage i can see, put it back and still very low volume, any suggestions??
