Ok, so I asked and my dad said that the reason why they got it wrong is because the text in Farsi cannot be changes properly to English, which cause all the confusion. Like it said below, what was said was wiped from the page of time, not the map.

makes sense, thanks - I studied linguistics, and there's stuff you cannot translate from, say, german to english (two languages a lot more similar than english and farsi) without some explanation; i.e. a one to one (word) translation would result in a potentially misleading re-interpretation - or plain wrong... Now add politics and it all gets really really difficult (Hitler's daily paper in Germany was "Der Voelkische Beobachter" - literally "The people's Observer" (see volk=folk=people on the surface). However, as the nazi's strictly redefined "Volk" as inseperable from "race", i.e. arian, a lot of proper translators argue that history books should refer to that paper as "the racialist observer" and footnote it... Or English Critics of Marx often harped on about "opium FOR the masses" when the German source actually translates as "opium OF the masses" - a big f*cking difference in the context... )... so there, some boring factoids for your delight ...
