network cannot let you unlock it.. it's illegal.
they can make you serve the 2 year contract first though!

i cant use a phone for 2 years, alright i love my p910i and could use it forever but i want p990i now, lol. 2 years is a long time on one contract, no doubt the tarrif will be sky high aswell

Best thing to do is save up for it get the phone sim free or from USA and the get something else for your upgrade if your on contract and sell it on. That is what i am doing.
