well both the kryptonite cable and Squire d lock got cut with a pair of 3 foot bolt croppers, and he took the cut locks too so the insurance didnt pay out!
and yes gypsies had moved in a mile away from there and more cars got broken into at my work and the surrounding offices, the local tesco reported a massive increase in theft (i knew someone that worked there at the time) and when they 'moved on' it all stopped.
now lets put 2 and 2 together....
but now my bike is in my spare room in my flat, not the shed, and wherever i go, i take it inside the building i go to....

both of mine are insured for £3000 each and as long as they are locked to an immovable object they are covered for anything...
bliss..
god bless British Cycling Foundation..
I learnt the hard way too Batesie, some pikie stole my old GT from a bike rack a few years ago, all locked up with an el cheapo lock, have since got me a proper abus city back lock and no one has ever tried to knick either bike.
If you want a proper lock get down to your local motor bike shop. the value of a motor bike is more than a bike (in some cases) and as such the locks are that much better.
there are rumours of a proper data tag like cars have batesie, but powering the thing is proving difficult! not good.

I use a 6ft long reinforced steel wire lock that goes through both wheels and the frame, then around the "imovable" object.
I think I paid about £25 when I bough the bike, it then uses the memory in the steel to re coil its self and sits in a carrier on the down tube. I dont know how good it is but so far I still have my bike after 2 years.
I dont use quick release hubs anymore and in fairness its not a very expensive bike but how annoying it is that we now have a society that allows such mindless crime to thrive,
I dont want to sound like the old duffer, but when I was a kid you simply had to be careful to stop your bike or anything elese getting stolen,
I am certain this is all linked to drug abuse and the crime wave it produces, let not forget drug sales also feed the terorist networks so prevelent now in the UK, so why cant the authorities put MI5 or MI6 and some of our special forces resource to good use targetting drug gangs its so obviouse its almost like Tony and his mates dont want to rock the boat!
