to 'beep',the phone will use power from the battery...thus losing battery power(even if its a fraction)...so the battery will take more electricity to charge the battery back to 100%.

Pointless Nokia.

Beeps will be using power from the battery, If this "beeping" is ignored then it wont stop, hence the need for more power to keep the phone beeping. It would be small amounts but still using more than it should.

I think its a PR stunt just to put Nokio on the "We Care" list.

i am guessing it will periodically alert you, just like in samsung phone it alerts you of missed calls after a while until you check it.

i noticed the compact charger that came with the N95 had an energy star compliant label on it.

(in the UK) you dont need to unplug things all the time, just switch the socket 'off'.

in other countries that dont use switches on there wall sockets you do need to unplug it when not in use to save on wasted energy.....

good work from nokia tho.

surely fuel cell technology will help the gadget world stay enviromentally friendly

Now that's just plain annoying if you charge the phone while you sleep; there should be an option to turn it off.

I'm not sure about other countries, but Australia has switches next to our power sockets so we can turn off the power without unplugging the plug. I only just learnt that the USA doesn't have power switches!

yeah and isnt it also dangerous to plug in something when the switch is "always on"?
