The first batches of t39s had this problem with the signal.When they've finally fixed it, it went out of production:))

I've got exactly the same problem. Seems to be hardware prob and no way software upgrade can fix it. It's been for 1 year with me and then what's funny without apparent reason started doing this funky thing with a network. I'm selling mine stuff for parts, just got Nokia 6590i. So far so good.

I had this problem with my T39; the phone was four months old and I took it back to the Shop (Carphone Warehouse) and they did a straight exchange.
