thank you for that information.
It's ok, I hope everybody see's this or knows about what eXpansys does as a poster above commented saying it's common practice.
I have never experienced this before. Noway would I knowingly pay the high street going price for a cheap import which is marked up as UK version which it actually is'nt and which does not update properly using the Sony Ericsson Update Service to the latest firmware version in the UK.
I've just ordered a new sim free Sony Ericsson K810i but noway did I use expansys, I'll never use them again. They have not even got the decency to reply to my complaint about it or resolve this even though the handset was bought from them.
I made my order from mobilefun.co.uk as all handsets I have bought from mobilefun in the past have been UK version and problem free as they should be which is what you expect. Mobilefun even price matched me. Great customer service I received too.

Wow! That is absolutely shocking! I was planning to buy a handset from Expansys, but I don't think I will be doing that now! I will see if Mobilefun wil pricematch!

Yeah, steer clear of eXpansys is my advice. Use somewhere reputable.

I actually find other online retailers have better prices. For example the K810i was £274.99 at Expansys were as at the Carphone Warehouse in your high street or online and now also mobilefun have it for £249.95.
It's only now that eXpansys is £249.95 sim free but of course it's not the same UK spec handset its a cheap import marked up as a UK version which it is'nt.

how is it a cheap import?

the model is identical to the uk spec, bar the region its from so software might not be ready at times... if the phone is completely different from uk spec, ok then you can call it a cheap import, but its not, its same....
i got my w880i from hk, my sisters boyfriend recently got one on a contract here, so he got an 'aussie stock' w880i. I compared everything from the 2 phones in the little software menu, cda's, software, etc, everything was identical. Guess the only difference is the charger. The so called aussie stock phones even had Chine region firmware like mine
And on ebay every selling an aus stock phone says, this is aus stock, buy from me, this isnt a cheap import..... which i dont really understand as the models are identical as our phones here are from either Asia mostly, or Europe, and just the charger pins are different..... defo not a 'cheap' version....

No it's not, if this was a UK spec handset it would have the same functionality as a UK spec handset but it has'nt hence why it is different and certainly not a UK Version as eXpansys falsely advertises.
I bought a sim free Sony Ericsson K810i today from The Carphone Warehouse, this most certainly is a "Genuine UK spec" and not some cheap shit that eXpansys buys in bulk from other countries and prices up as UK Version when it is'nt anyway.

Here in SA we call the imports grey but here it matters as the main factor is that any SA phone comes from the networks and therefore have a two year guarantee standard

.with a import version it obviously isn't guaranteed

I believe the warranty is world wide. This is'nt the point anyway, why should you need to send your handset to a Sony Ericsson service center for flashing if the phone you purchased is meant to be a UK version.
End of the day eXpansys are importing cheap handsets (they got cheap) and trying to flog you them as UK versions at the full price if not more than what the going price is in the high street for a proper UK version.

i get what you are saying toney_Ericsson, i know exspansys sold you a cheaper, cost wise not spec wise, phone from another country.....
i meant they arent cheap imports, in that when people say this, it sounds as if they are saying they arent getting genuine manufacturer products, and that the functions arent the same.... All the phone ive bought from HK have worked perfectly in Australia, and have been the same as aus stock except for charger... warranty is only downside though.... but take care of your phone and it should be fine, im sure we can fix software problems ourselves
tried getting a refund from them?
