if you have irda you can use anyphone as a remote. but the question is what are you gonne send? are you gone send the number like 1 or volume up? or are you gonne send binary codes 11000101???
it could work but noby evertested it. afraid it could destroy there TV

every tv set that comes from the same maker and is (almost) the same modell has a specific number to send, so if you are going to design a univesial controll then you must to som option key where you could fill in your tv set numer. If I where you i would only consentrate with the bigger names such as Sony, LG and Philips.

Could you not use the ir in the phone to recieve (record) the codes directly from the tv remote control. The phone then just copies all the buttons you press. No need to type in any codes and doesn't matter what TV you have...

Have I completly over simplified things?

just my thought.. do you think the IR of the p800 is strong enough? Ithink they call the one's they use for remote control are called commercial IR or something.. the sony clie has it. my ipaq don't. goodluck man! This message was posted from a WAP device

hmm, the p800 is the first mobile phone i have seen with 2 IR diods (donīt know if thatīs the proper english name for it?), so it should be strong!
