So the Classic is now Nokia's thinnest handset to date, at 9.5mm.

Does classic have expandable memory, or just 1GB??

Slider specs are nice; I'm just hoping the VGA video is 30fps, not 15(like 6280....waste of time).....

@ Aware,
According to the specs sheet on gsmarena, it has no card slot..:

Thanks, Wanga(hope you're ok)!

Is it me, or are Nokia still being a bit stingy/tight with memory?? Thought they'd have learned by now.....

Still nice (counter-)announcement tho'.....

if the classic had a mem card slot and AF it would make the phone perfect. Both are nice handsets though. Maybe they will introduced a (i) version for the classic with a AF and mem card slot??

@ Aware,
LOL, da wanqsta is OK thanks.

The Classic is bound to sell well... particularly if priced in 6300 territory, which hasn't been a slouch on the sales charts at all...

Fair enough, the 6300 has a card slot, but methinks there'll be plenty wooed by this stylish (IMHO) and far more slender (9.5mm) handset.

The 6500 Slide supports "dual-band UMTS"? Does that mean it will work on the 2100 European and 850 American frequencies?!!!!! Very nice!

More great phones from Nokia. When will SE catch up

They already ahead check out the earlier announced t650 it's the form of the classic but with better or matching features to the slide.the classic 6500 has only qcif video so t650 is better.

Those phones are good but i find the classic version of 6500 to be a reminiscent of Samsung C100 by which it tells us some kind of lack of own design intelligence of Nokia, similar thing as 6500 slide which resembles it's symbian twin N80

but i liked the 6500 slide, for me it has the best quality among nokia phones so far, no buggy symbian, no battery guzzling Wifi, and probably no sliding problems due to it's metal chassis but i worry for it's battery because of the 16M colors
