It's not recognising the phone sadly, I suspect it'd need to be fully powered up or at least power up more than it does!

I have a sneaking suspicion it is water damaged, there was some evidence of residue on the mainboard, which I tried to clear with some WD-40.

It seems to charge, though I don't get any charging animation or indication.

try cleaning the pcb with a paint brush or something similar.

you never know, it may just be a bit of dust/dirt on a connector

I tried that software you supplied the link to gaming_guy, but couldn't get the phone to talk to the PC, I've probably not got the right cable (got the standard usb data cable).

What I've done so far is kind of cheating - I recieved another D900 with a broken LCD yesterday, and swapped the mainboards round so now have a working D900, might try flashing the other D900 mainboard if I can get hold of the right cable cheaply.
