Seat and Skoda are both worth a look as they are only VW's without the badge and price tag I personally love the Seat Leon, and AFAIK it's built on the golf platform!

Rookwise has a Leon if i am not mistaken, pretty nice car... Definately worth a look as like Nanu says there just like a rebadged Golf so you have the quality of a gold but not paying the VW premium price.
Saying that the Mk4 Golf with the 1.9 TDI engine is very good and known for having a lot oof low end torque which = good.

1.9 engine would mean more insurance though. A mate at work got a VW Golf GTi turbo awhile back lovely car think he paid around £5k, bargain if you ask me.

Id love to get an Integrale!! I saw one couple months ago beautiful condition gunmetal grey, 62 000km on the clock for R350 000 (around 40k pounds)
