Everything is fixable, it's the cost of doing it. If it's s/w it should be quick, fairly cheap and easy but if it's the LCD panel then it would be harder and a little more costly.

As you said the problem appeared when you tried falshing the phone, so it is not hardware fault. Flashing the phone through better client like wotan WILL solve the problem .

this happened to me when i flashed just recently on SEUS!

keypad light didn't turn on when you pressed buttons and i had to go to the brightness setting to turn it on. after the phone auto-locked itself it would just turn off again!!!

it's definitely a bad flash! if you used SEUS uninstall it from ur computer. re-install SEUS then re-download the flash file and re-flash.

make sure you watch that it completes to 100% (as mine only got up to 98% which gave me the backlight problems)

once completed ur phone should work properly again, and you'll be a happy chappy again!

Use WOTAN! I've flashed my both W810i and K800i and have had perfect results.

Did your friend update his firmware with SEUS? Don't bother with SEUS, cuz it's not v good. If he didn't flash it with SEUS, did he flash his K800i to K810i firmware? Apparently there's a chronic keypad backlight problem with K800i + K810i firmware
