Why dont u try to some random url like http://addwig555.blogspot.com in ur phone's browser and see what happens?

Good idea. Doing that I get a more re-assuring 404 error (which is fair enough since the page doesn't exist) - much better than a "no DNS entry" error anyway!

Update: O2 are now claiming their network "doesn't support the blogging feature on the K810i". Of course at no point was that made clear when I was signing up for their network

Who did you speak to. You can get different answers from different people on matters such as this.

May be if someone else on here can confirm whether their K810i can blog or not.

I believe that the DNS error is due to the fact that after the Blog 'upload' and you get the chance to visit the blog, the URL presented to the browser is

I'm currently beating up O2, as this is one of the key features listed for the K810i, so I think I should be able to expect it to work!

O2 also told me that it's not supported - due to the GPRS access required being a security issue!

What a load of b*llocks!

I pointed out that all it needed was the ability to email MMS to go@blogger.com...

I'm still waiting for a more intelligent response from them.

In the end, their attitude about advertising an unsupported feature amounts to defrauding their customers. Particularly since the non-supported blog option still merrily uses up data bandwidth - though I have still to work our where they're sending my blog entries!

Heh you're not wrong. I get a different answer from every person I speak to there (and I've spoken to quite a few). This latest revelation is from someone called David Guite, O2 customer support. It was over email.

I love how he says that "blogging isn't supported by the network" despite the fact that 20+ of his colleagues have previously troubleshooted and tried to resolve the issue for me.

The bottom line for me is, O2 are calling the handset a "K810i" so it should have all the K810i features. The Sony Ericsson product website for that handset lists the blogging right at the top of the page, so it is clearly an important back-of-the-box feature. I wouldn't mind if they'd called the phone "K810x" or something to indicate that the device was a specially hobbled version unique to O2, but since they advertised it as a fully-fledged K810i I signed up (being tired of the heavily branded Vodafone handsets) I expect it to work as well as it does on other networks.

Anyway I'll keep shouting at O2 about it, thanks for all the advice folks. I wonder if there's any point in taking O2 to the small claims court... I don't feel they've been honest about the features of the handset / network and I don't fancy being locked into a contract when I'm not happy from the outset.

Not sure if it's a small claims issue (yet) - at least not until you're recovering costs against them.

But - others, like Trading Standards, Advertising Standards, or even that useless body Ofcom - might be interested.

I think it is quite unacceptable for O2 to be selling a phone on a feature that it then says it doesn't support!

I've received my K810i today (again from O2) and this feature isn't working for me either.

I previously had the K800i also from O2 and the pic blogging worked fine.

I would suggest that the phone has been branded by O2 (evident due to the wallpaper etc) and that this has possibly been overlooked by O2?

I just called customer support who in tern spoke to tech support and they're referring me back to SE because it's "a handset feature".

I'm going to try my Virgin sim now and see if it works BUT I would suggest the fact that when I view the blog it's trying to send me to http://www - and that's it that it's a problem with the firmware/branding (whatever you call it).

I've not looked into it yet but is it possilbe to flash the phone and remove all of the branding...put it back to a non-O2 branded phone? I'd be interested to see if this resolves the problem.

I'll post back shortly to see if it works with Virgin sim.
