Like most things, this also has two sides : when you buy a phone, you'll pay less, but you'll also get less, when selling one.
When you, like a lot of people here, enjoy to try new phones, you'll buy them early, at a top price and selling it again, you'll get less then expected, which is not so good.
We've stopped last year, taking out a new contract for a new phone, we buy our phones now from webshops, when they're two or three months on the market.
There's another good thing about this : we can avoid buying phones with a lot of problems, as we've read about these on several forums by then.

You know guys... in my country W950's price drop from Rp 3,800,000 to Rp 3,100,000 in a week, and then drop again to Rp 2,475,000 this week.
That's why I bought W950 yesterday though this phone is not in my plan.
(1 USD = Rp 9,000).

$275 for a W950i!?
you see that's like £140 for a brand new W950i....
it's silly money...

The only thing i've seen this happen with is SE, Samsung and Motorolla phones. Nokia phones dont take that big a jump in price as compared to those brands.

not only phone...
if you do notice, price of memory cards drop like hell...
remember myself buying a 256MB SD in 2004 at 30$.
early 2006 1GB card for 50$ and now i can get 2GB card within 25$.
while march, i bought a 2GB M2 priced at 80$,
within a month it goes to $55 and now $50.
it shows me that in Q1 and Q2 this year, mobile devices price drops rapidly, not forgetting the memory modules...
