I've decided to go down the k750->w800 route using the Davinci software as this will result in a better MP3 player I reckon. Even without the java prompts it still takes 2-10 secs before playing each song due to the piss-poor java implementation on th k750.

Ive also flashed my K750I to W800I but I didnt use Davinci ( never got on with it or the poor customer back up )

Once the media player is open, it pauses for a few seconds while it looks at the memory card & then it will play mp3s fine, no pause before playing a song.

I used Phone XS ++

Did the W800I media player tweak & also the patch to make the media player louder.

My phone still comes up as a K750I but it now has Walkman on the menu instead of media player & the full walkman player when you click the icon, you also get the flight mode feature when you boot the phone up.

Davinci is pissing me off - so many errors and poor guides on the site. 10euro wasted...

I followed the steps here

One thing to watch for, if your K750I is one of the newer ones ( CID 49 onwards ) that SE nobbled the zoom on by fitting the so called upgraded camera module then this W800I firmware will show the zoom sort of working but it wont save the pictures with any zoom on, just normal 1 x size.

The only way to fix the zoom issue is change the camera module for an earlier CID 36 version, no amount of software tweaking will get zoom working correctly with a CID 49 camera module.

Hi, I changed my camera module, and compared to the old cid36 the cid49 is missing some electronic parts )this can be clearly seen on the back of the cam module). And if you take outdoor pics you see a significant decrease in quality!
Do you know more about this 'upgraded' module? WHY have they crippled the cam module?

Hi

Ive no idea why SE changed the camera module, only thing I can think of is it happened around the same time the K800 was about to be launched & that was meant to be the new flagship Cyber shot phone.

Honestly ive no idea why & I never looked closely when I swopped the modules so I didn't notice the differences & lack of electronic parts on the new type.

Might be something to do with the new Cybershot branding on the high end phones like K800 etc & not wanting the cheaper stuff like K750I having a decent camera on anymore & competing for sales but that's just a guess.

I still think the K750 & W800 ( in pre nobbled spec ) have been the best camera phones that SE have made so far.
