what happens if you try to manually select your network?

is it simply not available or just a much weaker signal than the french one?

There is no uk network when you go down base of the cliff, only french networks.
I have also phoned using a uk network while sat in calias docks before.

I go down there once a year and never noticed it.

I'll be along with my family the next sunny weekend we get and so will check it out again. I'm on t-mobile now and was previously on vodafone

we really like the cliff top picnics and the walk up that big hill the other side of the cove

noticed the same thing down at St. Margaret’s Bay near Dover.
(a really nice place worth a visit if your in Kent -http://www.baytrust.org.uk/ )
when down on the beach the only networks are french - and all the radio stations are french too!

maybe the white chalk cliffes help the signal, and well its in line of sight of the french transievers!

I go to lulworth 4-5 times a year as it is only a few miles from me. It is a lovely place to visit. Durdle door is well worth the walk as well from lulworth.

Has nobody asked their service provider about why this is? If I was in the uk, and getting charged large amounts for making call, I would not be best pleased.

I guess they would just refere you to their coverage maps (as no one has 100% coverage)

heres the O2 one showing alot of missing coverage in that area
