The number of checks is a myth, checks dont affect your rating.

Defaults and missed payments do.
Tmobile state on the contract that it is "subject to secondary checks"
I suggest you read things in future.

Nobody can tell you exactly how an individual credit application is scored, because lenders take different information into account in their credit scoring and may even have different scores for different products. And they won't tell you exactly how they do their calculations, as it is confidential and commercially sensitive. But if you are refused credit, they should give you a basic explanation of how scoring works, tell you the main reason for their decision and say whether this decision was because of information on your credit report.

If you are interested write to them, carphone can provide you with a
leaflet.

Oh and im not "boy" im tom.

Unfortunately that is incorrect Credit checks do leave a mark on your history and can influence a lender, a high amount of credit checks in a short space of time can lead a potential lender to the decision that the buyer is in financial difficulty and trying to obtain credit as a way out.

I failed a credit check with O2 last year as they carried out two by accident and the second one failed due to them carrying out the first! so I went back to Vodafone and all was fine. O2 later apologised to me and reassured me that my credit rating was fine, and it was their error for carrying out two searches in quick succession of each other which meant the second one automatically failed!

Subsequently I wrote to O2 and requested that they removed the searches from my credit history so as to not have a negative effect on my rating, with which they agreed and promptly removed!

T-Mobile only perform secondary checks if either the initial credit score done through CPW's own credit check system is a low pass or they suspect something is strange! It may be a case where CPW's system has done 2 checks by accident and with your credit score being possibly low, has triggered an automatic decline within T-Mobile (this is a preventative measure by T-Mobile to combat suspected fraud)! Would suggest you visit a T-Mobile store and explain, they will then ring there credit referrals team to see if they can resolve and connect you there and then-sadly would mean no S500 though! Also whoever said the number of credit checks done within a short period of time does not effect your credit standin is talkin crap-it does! Dependin on your credit class, the more checks you have done, automaticaly triggers warnings to potential lenders-ie. Good score, more checks can be done within short periods of time. Low credit score-less credit checks can be done with a good outcome! :-)

The best way to pass a credit check (apart from a good rating obviously) is to use credit card as one of your forms of id and do not apply within 3 years of moving. A home phone number helps as well.
