Does the w580 have autofocus? The w610 does? Does that matter at all? Or are you not worried about the cam that much...

The W610 only wins on camera (LED + autofocus)
W580 is better in everything else (QVGA screen, shake feature, light effects, sport applications, etc)

I think you should choose W580 over W610
Why?
reasons:
-QVGA screen resolution in 2.0" diagonal, better for viewing web pages in it's Powerful Netfront browser, viewing album art is also better though since both does not show the picture in bigger size just as W960 do, this is neglectible

also take note that QVGA screen is better for viewing videos, photos and gaming either
-W610 has AF, and Flash in it's camera, but let me tell you it's quality is uncomparable with K750/W810/W800/W900/P990 and it's images evidently shows the flaws of it's smaller CMOS sensor- jagged edges, noise and chromatic abberation

whats the use of autofocus and Flash if those images fails to produce the quality that has been a trademark for SE AF phones?
-W580 has shaker feature, similar to the one found in W910 that enhances music player experience. some people may find you wierd shaking the phone to change tracks, but others may find it head turning. though you can't use it for changing the screen orientation and for gamning like the new K850/W910
-Light Effects that further enhances music player experience again, a head turning feature especially during night
-is slider, yeah candybars are safer, smaller and less bulk. but sliders and clamshells does not compromise keypad typing convinience. and i'm very sure for texters having a 8850/P900 keypad is a pain to use especially for those with large fingers. and imho SE sliders were cute
-has better ergonomics and look. especially with the gray version

I loved the screen on my K790a, but the phone itself was just too bulky.

The W580 is nothing but bulky (14mm thin). W610 is pretty thin too
