P1i is a good choice... I switched over from a nokia N73 after having almost only SE before that (including P800 and P910).
The keyboard is pretty easy to get used to and works very well and fast. The phone has a very nice formfactor.
You can pick up a call by using the jog dial and reject a call by using the back button (both hardware buttons although on the side... not on the keypad).
It is pretty fast once you started the apps once. First time of booting takes a while and after a boot it takes some time to open an app (nothing too disturbing btw) but once they're open and in memory it's really pretty ok. (Haven't experienced a single reboot once, enough memory thank god in this phone).
Battery lasts about a day or three on moderate usage.
The camera is not too impressive, hope it's fixed with firmware updates and also the lack of software for uiq is too bad. But other then that, great phone so far. I can really recommend it.

Some people report problems about the sound quality when in loudspeaker mode ! I don't expect it to be as good as the stereo sound of the N73 but I don't want a 1950's rusted robot voice neither

Check the tread about this issue.
So what if the N73 has stereo sound, it sounds terrible! Really tinny. The mono N80 before it sounded much, much better and the P1i sounds better again. Don't be a marketing sheep, tinny stereo speakers 1cm apart DO NOT sound better than a decent mono speaker.

The Samsung wins hands down. It's camera is rubbish cut the windows is much better than UIQ. I had a m600i and got so sick of it so quick it was pathetic. The i600 is the way to go! Sony Ericsson smartphones just aint that 'smart'.

@sunking101
N73 has great stereo loudspeakers... Believe me... My friend has it... The reason u may think it sound bad is because Stereo Widening is on... Turn it off and then try...

@hgautam:
Had the N73 myself and wasn't that impressed with the sound either. Sure, it's ok but not that much better then the P1i in my opinion.
@Eric's son:
Wanna give some arguments or backup those statements? My main issue with the UIQ3 is the lack of 3rd party software. Other then that I can't see what's so bad about it...
About the i600, personally I don't like the looks... The lack of touchscreen is a negative point for me and also the fact (so I've read) that a lot of software for it's OS has been made for devices having touchscreen so it can't be properly used/installed on the i600 would be a negative point.
Ah well, everybody has his or her own wishes and demands... I love the P1i so far anyway

i have to use windows for work, i'll be dammed if i have to use it on my phone as well! Feels to much like work, not leisure, same is true of the Blackberry, so glad to be back to UIQ its a really nice balance of work and leisure.
and the P1 incarnation is excellent.

I've had my P1i for a few weeks now and absolutely love it !
In fact I've just sold my Treo 680 and HTC Tytn on Ebay as I no longer have a need for them and I much prefer the P1i.
The P1i connects perfectly to my wireless access point and downloads all of my Work email (through Exchange). It also syncs everything else via the USB cable (tasks/notes etc). I'm also really impressed with the battery life which is great.
The only thing that could do with some work is the quality of the camera - but compared to a Treo even that is much better..
Mark.

Absolutely fantastic phone. Had all the models since P900 and this one is THE touchdown! After the failure with P990 this is really the strike back. Strongly recommend it.

hi guys, yesterday i bought the p1i and i must say in these 2 days of usage, im really impressed: very good build quality, very good voice quality/volume, fast device, very stable(no crashes), i already got used to the kb. also i took pictures and they have no 'green' effect like some have.
i really dont notice bugs, they dont bother me, after my p900-P910i i never had such a good device, i hope it stays this good!
thx for all the people on this forum who convinced me into this device!
