I updated my 02 branded N80 to generic IE FW (Ver. 4.0632.0.38) about a month ago. DragonEye is quite right you need to do this to get the Wlan status to show in the standby screen. However even once you've updated the firmware you still need to install the Wifi Scanner app, but it will show in the standby screen unlike on the standard N80 FW.

I updated the phone to vers 4 on the nokia update thingy earlier it's made the phone send texts abit quicker now and it's enhanced the 02 rubbish by the looks of it
btw it's a very good phone I was disapointed I couldn't get 1 at start of the year and had to have that crap K800i

lol my n95 is meant to be unlocked but the nice n00bs at t-mob got the wrong IMEI and sent me the wrong code.....
i can get it for whoever buys the phones but nah id prefer cash so i can buy a w580
