1: is the phone locked? if so - what will I need to do in order to unlock it, I have also heard that not all features work once you have unlocked them from there original branding?

This phone is software unlocked.
I can DOUBLE unlock it as well if requested.
(The advantage of a double unlocked one is that you are less likley to have an issue once Apple releases an update).
All of the iPhones I have sold work 100% with everything.
The only thing that doesn't work is visual voicemail and that is because it is network dependant.
