hmmm, this sounds very familiar...i had a T28 that powered off and wouldn't power on...this happened 4 times until it was out of warranty and i gave it away.
make sure you write this complaint down in writing when you correspond with Ericsson as this is not an uncommon problem with their phones.
Nokia's have a screen fault, Ericsson's have a power fault!
btw: on the 3rd occasion when this happened i was actually able to get the phone back on once through vain attempts at holding down various keys while pressing power, it was a very strange fault but if you search the web for Ericsson power fault you'll find more than a few threads on the topic.

sorry for the delay...not as committed as some.
yes, my t28 had issues with charging when it collapsed, can't remember if it appeared to charge or not...the service center said the 'psu' had blown which i guess means 'power supply unit'.
don't want to get your hopes up but you could try holding down the power button while attatching the battery or anything of that nature, you've nothing to lose at this stage...good luck with getting it replaced...have you contaced Ericcson? you could send it back to Europe if you want to(as advised above) or just find the nearest North Amercan service center.
